Spring Break in Arkansas - 2001
First week of April

On our way down to Arkansas, we stopped off at a "cabin" that a friend let us use. It was so nice; we almost didn't go the rest of the way down to Arkansas! We really enjoyed it, and it was nice to be back in Brown County, where Roberta and I grew up. As you can see, we had an extra kid with us. He's Greg Rettig, Bill's friend. Isn't he a snazzy dresser?

Here's a shot of the lake that the cabin overlooks. It was a beautiful view. It was just too cold to swim. Although, we did see a few brave souls in boats on the water.

We went through Nashville, and we saw our old school. I went there from 7th through 12th, and Roberta got there in the 8th grade. Man has it changed! I can't believe how it has grown. Click on the picture to see the wide angle shot.

After a long drive down, we made it to Arkansas. We stayed in a very nice, luxury condo that Roberta got a killer deal on over Ebay. The building behind the boys has the pool, jacuzzi, game room, weight room, sauna, and gathering place in it.

Here are the boys enjoying the game room. We made good use of all the facilities. Lots of pool, swimming, etc. We couldn't believe how nice everything was. The breakfasts at the little diner there could not be beat.

They even had canoes and paddleboats that you could borrow, which was included in the price of the rental. Considering we paid the price for one night but got a full week, it was quite a deal indeed.

Although we made a lot of our meals in the condo, you just can't pass up the chance of eating at the Sonic Drive-in. Here the boys are hamming it up for the camera.

We were in the Ozarks. So, I just have to include a shot like this. It was a very beautiful area of the country. Nothing like the South!

We took little trip to the Blanchard Springs Caverns, and boy are we glad we did. It was without a doubt the best cave we have ever been to! It was really alive and vibrant, not dusty and dead like most of the other caves we've been to. The only complaint was that the guide went so fast. The time flew by, and we really wanted to just stand and look at everything. Oh well, maybe we'll pass through there again.

After we were done in the cave, we went around to a place where a stream comes out of the cave, forming a small waterfall. It was a very nice hike, and a very good time. All in all, it seemed like quite an adventure, and we really enjoyed our vacation.
